WENDY W.Y. YUNG

Wendy Yung is an advocate for good corporate governance in Hong Kong. Prior to founding Practising Governance for this cause, Wendy was Executive Director and Company Secretary of Hysan Development and played a key role in developing and implementing its well-recognised corporate governance practices. Over the years, her responsibilities have spanned commercial operations, as well as human resources and corporate communications.

First trained as a solicitor, Wendy also qualified as a certified public accountant and a governance practitioner in Hong Kong. She sits on various committees of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute, having served as co-opted council member and council member of the institutes respectively. She graduated with First Class Honours in Law from Oxford University, United Kingdom.

Over the years, she had served as a member of the Listing Committee of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform, the Professional Accountants in Business Committee of the International Federation of Accountants, and the Audit and Risk Committee of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority.

Winston Yung is a Partner at McKinsey’s Hong Kong office. He focuses on serving financial institutions across Greater China on a broad range of issues including strategy, performance management, risk management, and corporate finance. Prior to joining McKinsey, Mr. Yung was the CFO of HTC and Shin Kong Financial Holding, has extensive experience as a senior executive, and was elected as “Best CFO” by Institutional Investor in 2011. Mr. Yung graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with double majors in Finance and Accounting and was awarded the Palmer Scholar.

Paul Malam

Paul Malam is the Head of Listing Policy and Secretariat Services at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX). Prior to joining HKEX in 2006, Paul worked for the London Stock Exchange's Listing Division and subsequently the Markets Division of the UK Financial Services Authority (now Financial Conduct Authority) on policy initiatives and monitoring issuers' compliance with UK Listing Rule continuing obligations. At HKEX, Paul developed and implemented several listing reforms prior to the launch of Specialist Technology Company regime, including the 2018 Listing Reforms (Chapters 8A, 18A and 19C) and the SPAC listing regime.

Steve Lo

Steve Lo is the Asia-Pacific Chief Innovation Officer of Ernst & Young (EY). He leads a team across all geographies and service lines within EY Asia-Pacific to foster and drive innovation through ideation, incubation and adoption of disruptive technologies and business models that deliver sustainable transformational benefits to clients. Steve also leads the EY Asia-Pacific Innovation Tech Lab located in China. He is a member of the firm's Global Strategic Innovation Group which oversees and upholds innovation initiatives across EY globally.

Steve is a management and technology consultant with over two decades of experiences advising global organizations primarily headquartered in Asia, recently in the innovation and globalization domains. Steve started his consulting career with Accenture in Toronto upon obtaining his Engineering Master’s from the University of Toronto; and subsequently joined EY as a Partner in Beijing in January, 2008 as part of the ambition to stand up the business advisory practice in China. Benno is the Co-President of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, and serves on the boards of the German-Swiss International School Hong Kong and Balance Health Group, a leading holistic wellness business in Asia.

Michael Ling was appointed as the joint company secretary for CLP Holdings Limited in January 2023 and prior to this, he was the deputy company secretary for CLP Holdings since 2016.

Michael is a qualified lawyer and joined CLP in 2011 as an international transactions legal counsel. Before joining CLP, he was a transaction lawyer with AIA Group Ltd. He also has extensive experience in corporate transactions and advisory work including public and private M&A and capital markets work as a private practice lawyer in Hong Kong, London and Beijing.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian National University and has completed the IMD’s Applied Leadership Program and the FT Non-Executive Director Programme. He is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar. He is also a Fellow member of both The Chartered Governance Institute and The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI) (formerly known as The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries) and awarded with the dual designations of Chartered Secretary and Chartered Governance Professional; he is currently a member of Technical Consultation Panel and Disciplinary Tribunal of HKCGI. He also sits on the Board of AFS Hong Kong as Vice Chair.

Joyce Lai is the Assistant Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (Corporate Communications and Compliance) of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong (PCPD).

Ms Lai is currently responsible for leading her teams in handling external communications, promotion and education, as well as compliance monitoring work of the PCPD.

Prior to joining the PCPD, Ms Lai worked at the Listing Division of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, specialised in listing compliance. Ms Lai holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland, Australia. She is a Certified Public Accountant in Hong Kong and Australia.



Dr. Dorothy Chau

DR. DOROTHY CHAU

Dr. Dorothy Chau currently holds the position of APAC Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Head of Security Assurance at Crypto.com. In this capacity, she oversees the APAC privacy program and spearheads numerous blockchain-related security initiatives. Prior to joining Crypto.com, Dr. Chau served as the Director of Hong Kong, Macao, and Cross-Border Financial Affairs at Tencent, where she fostered academic and industry partnerships, significantly contributed to the growth of Tencent Finance Academy, and played a pivotal role in the successful launch of Fusion Bank in Hong Kong. Additionally, she was accountable for strategic projects pertaining to blockchain, cross-border financial products, FinTech policy advisement, and government relations at Tencent and Fusion.

Before her tenure at Tencent, Dr. Chau was a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), where she founded the Master in Finance program (FinTech and Financial Analytics) and served as its inaugural program director. With over a decade of experience in the FinTech sector, Dr. Chau has established a solid reputation as an expert in both industry and academia.

Dr. Chau is an esteemed member of the Forbes Finance Council and has been recognized as a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Furthermore, she actively contributes to various working groups within the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Financial Services Development Council. In this role, she collaborates on influential policy recommendations concerning Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC), Hong Kong's development as a data hub, cybersecurity, FinTech talent cultivation, and other relevant topics.

Ricky Cheng is the firm’s Director and Head of Risk Advisory, with major responsibility in the area of risk advisory services. He specialises in assisting clients in managing their internal audit function and meeting corporate governance requirements in both China and Hong Kong.

Ricky has 20 years of risk and assurance experience. He worked for large international accounting firms and had commercial internal audit experience. His expertise covers various services such as Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance, risk management assessment, compliance assistance, corporate governance compliance review, internal audit assistance, business process review, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) readiness and reporting support services review, stored value facilities (SVF) licence independent assessment review, etc.

The portfolio of clients managed by Ricky comes from various industries including transportation, property development and construction, gaming and entertainment, hospitality, manufacturing, gold and minerals mining, fast moving consumer goods, retailing and department chain stores, financial institutions such as brokerage houses and derivative products companies.

Ricky is currently the Chairman of the Research and Education Committee and the Governor of The Institute of Internal Auditors Hong Kong. He is also the Advisory Board member of Global Centre of ESG Education and Research of The Hong Kong Management Association. In addition, Ricky also serves as the member of Advisory Peer Group of The Hong Kong Metropolitan University, Sustainability Committee of The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accounts, Training Committee of The Hong Kong Institute of Directors and ACCA Hong Kong Committee.

Ricky is the Fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He is also a Certified Internal Auditor.



Paul Murphy

Paul Murphy is Head of ESG APAC at Georgeson and is responsible for growing and executing the ESG advisory strategy across Asia Pacific. This is achieved by assisting clients with managing their environmental, social and corporate governance risks and opportunities.

Paul was previously on the Vanguard Global Investment Stewardship team responsible for promoting long-term value creation on behalf of clients, portfolio company engagement, proxy voting, advocacy and thought leadership on investment stewardship issues in Australia. Prior to that, Paul led Vanguard’s government relations and regulatory affairs functions as Head of Advocacy and Strategy, influencing public policy in Australia.

Before joining Vanguard, Paul gained over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector. He has held roles across strategic marketing, financial education and advice, industry advocacy, public affairs and stakeholder relations in organisations such as UniSuper, the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors, the Australian Investment Managers’ Association and the Victorian State Government.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Monash University and a Masters in Organisational Leadership from Melbourne Business School. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

Isaac Yeung

Isaac Yeung is currently the Head of Corporate ESG/ Head of Corporate Affairs at The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas). Having served at Towngas for over 30 years, Isaac’s experience spans ESG, company secretarial services, human resources, project investment, corporate affairs and beyond. He sits on the boards for multiple major gas companies across the Chinese mainland.

Isaac initiated and organised the first national ESG forum by a gas company on the Chinese mainland back in 2012. Then, he made ESG reporting an imperative agenda item of annual board meetings for the Group’s mainland gas joint ventures, and initiated the publication of the first ESG report in the city-gas industry. He orchestrated the first Nature-Related Directive Guide amongst Hong Kong listed companies, with reference to the Task Force for Nature-related Financial Disclosures framework.

Isaac is an Associate of the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute with the designations of Chartered Secretary and Chartered Governance Professional. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the Climate Governance Initiative HK Chapter and a member of the Hong Kong Professionals and Senior Executives Association.

Isaac holds a Master of Business Administration degree from City University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Ir. Dr. Shelley Zhou is currently Head of Corporate Sustainability at Hang Seng Bank. Prior to joining Hang Seng, Dr. Zhou led ESG services in APAC for Capco, where she developed ESG products and solutions for financial institutions in Asia-Pacific, established a capable team to deliver net-zero strategy advisory and ESG consultancy services, and provided internal capacity-building and external executive training on climate and ESG related topics. Dr. Zhou is a sustainability professional, has 20+ years’ experience in corporate sustainability, environmental and carbon management consultancy, new energy and biotechnology in Hong Kong, China and Singapore, covering government, banking, financial, real estate and retail sectors.

Shelley holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Philosophy degree in Civil Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). She is also Adjunct Professor at HKUST and has offered carbon management courses since 2010.

She is currently overseeing the audit function of China, Hong Kong, Korea, and Taiwan, as well as Group Office and Investment Audit team. Prior to McDonald's, Keith held senior regional finance leadership positions in multiple top tier MNCs and global industry leaders, including Maersk, Volkswagen AG, Walt Disney, Philip Morris International, Swire Pacific Group and Sun Hung Kai Properties Group. Keith was named the "CFO of the Year - Excellence in Technology Innovation" in Asia by CFO Innovation in 2014, marking an important milestone of his progressive career.

Keith accomplished executive programs at various prestigious institutions including Harvard, IMD, INSEAD and UCLA. He also holds an MBA Degree from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a Bachelor Degree in Economics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Athena Wong is Head Governmental and Regulatory Affairs APAC of UBS. She oversees the relationships and interactions with regulators and government agencies in 13 locations in the region, and advises on messaging across business, operations, risk and strategic topics. During her past 17 years at UBS, she has held various business, legal and risk roles including COO of UBS Hong Kong Branch, Head of Legal for Wealth Management Greater China, Director of UBS Securities Hong Kong Limited and UBS Securities Asia Limited.

Externally Athena serves in the capacity building working group of the Financial Services Development Council, and is a member of the Industrial Advisory Board to the HK University of Science and Technology Dual Degree Program in Technology and Management.

Before joining UBS, Athena was a transaction lawyer with special focus on structured financing, securitization and PRC banking regulations.

Athena is a qualified lawyer in Hong Kong, England and Wales, and received her law degree from the University of Oxford.
